1) Carol Dweck's main claim in the TedTalk is about how having a growth mindset instead of a fixed one is better for you and is a great tool for you to use later in life.
2) I believe that Carol Dweck's purpose of this TedTalk is to express how important it is to have a growth mindset and persuade others to use one in the near future because of all the new things that they can learn. 3) This video is clearly meant to express and try to influence the audience about changing to a growth mindset. The TedTalk took place in late November of 2014. 4) The main stimulant of Carol Dweck's claim is that after achieving a growth mindset, children in either poor or not well-educated areas have steadily improved in school, surpassing the better schools in the area. She even uses the Native American Reservation group as an example in her speech to back up her claim. 5) The intended audience of this TedTalk by Carol Dweck is everyone of all ages, but in particular, young children and students in school right now. My reasoning for this is because Dweck believes that once you learn to have a growth mindset, it will stay with you and education and many other things will become easier. Also, your failures will become learning curves for the future, which suits people who are in need of help at a young age. 6) Carol Dweck arranges her ideas in a way that catches the audience at the end of the speech. For example, she explains her claim and her reasoning on why having a growth mindset is very useful and impactful for students, and then backs up all of her reasoning with evidence, including statistics and real-life success with a growth mindset rather than a fixed mindset. 7) During the TedTalk, Dweck uses different types of evidence such as showing the audience a graph of steadily increasing math grades in a math class after teaching about having a growth mindset. Also, she uses the example of a class in New York who were poorly educated and after learning the ability of a growth mindset, went to the top rank in their class. 8) I feel like I have a growth mindset, but emotions of mine can sometimes get in the way and block off my growth mindset. I say this because I know that there is always room for improvement for myself and I just have to keep pushing myself harder and harder each and everyday.
